ROCKVIEW HISTORY

Rockview Hotel is an indigenous Hotel owned by Rockview Hotels, Limited, under the Chairmanship of Chief (Dr.) Vincent Amechi Obianodo, MON.

The Hotel started its business in Abuja, Nigeria, in the year 1996 with 106 (One hundred and six) luxurious Rooms, including Suites. It was officially commissioned on 28th September 1996 by the then FCT Minister, Lt. J.T. Useni.

The first General Manager of the Hotel was Mr. Walterton Collin, who commenced operations from scratch. Ile was handed over to the present Group General Manager, Mr. Ugbor Vincent, in August 1997.

The Hotel, since then, has made tremendous progress with its expansion projects. In the Year 2004, the Hotel commissioned one of her Abuja projects and commenced operation on 17th May, 2004 with an additional 211 (Two hundred and eleven) Rooms, including Suites.

On the 1st of December 2006, Rockview Hotels extended its expansion to Festac Town, Lagos with the opening of 74 luxurious Rooms, including Suites.

The expansion continued in Abuja with the addition of twelve (12) flats of two (2) bed Room apartments, which commenced full operation in April 2009.

Shortly after the commencement of the Apartment, the Rockview Apapa, Lagos commenced operation on 5th May, 2010 with one hundred (100) luxurious Rooms, including Suites.

Currently, Rockview Hotels has a functional of three hundred and twenty-nine (329) Rooms, including Suites and Apartments in Abuja and one hundred and seventy-four (174) Rooms, including Suites in Lagos. This brings the total to five hundred and three (503) luxurious Rooms, including Suites and Apartments.

For proper identification, the two Hotels in Abuja were given the following names – Rockview Classic and Rockview Royale, while Lagos has Rockview Festac and Rockview Apapa, though quite distinct in their locations.

REMARK

Since the inception of the Hotel, there has been a remarkable impact and several Awards given by both local and International bodies in recognition of excellence in the Hospitality industry.

In the Year 2001, the Hotel won an international award (26th International Award for Tourism, Hotel and Catering Industry) held in Madrid, Spain.

The same year, the Hotel won the Travelers Gold Award – Best Hotel of the year (Nigerian managed) in Abuja and in Nigeria. In 2005, the Hotel won an award, Best Nigerian Managed Hotel in Abuja and in Nigeria, and several other awards.
